The tech world reacted strongly after Alibaba released its new AI model named Qwen 2.5-Max. According to the company, the new model in this case does better than a number of some of the most popular AI models such as DeepSeek-V3, GPT4o by OpenAI and Llama3.1-405B by Meta.
Several benchmark tests were made for the Qwen 2.5-Max and reported that it outclasses the above models in complex tasks such as reasoning, duplicate detection, and real time coding. Elaborating the results, Alibaba cloud division shared that the Qwen 2.5-Max was the best where it mattered most. Alibaba posted the stats about how its model is superior in these fields on social media platform X.

Tune in Live:
Alibaba is using this release to challenge the rapidly growing AI industry. But recently, startup DeepSeek in China made a massive entrance with its DeepSeek-V3 model. It surprised everyone since it turned out to be considerably less expensive than other fashions like GPT 4o despite being developed within the same factors, as it ended up compelling tech firms such as Alibaba to adjust price ranges.
Having said that, Alibaba has decided to make the Qwen 2.5-Max model available as open-source software. This ensures that it’s open to developers and businesses, making it simple to use and enhance the model as against most proprietary AI models that have been locked down.
As for DeepSeek, Alibaba is lowering prices on its cloud services by up to 97%. The competition in the AI field is fiercer with big players like Alibaba, Tencent and Baidu all trying to woo with better products. Given that more companies are trying to push the envelope of AI, it’s obvious who is going to be in the lead of the AI revolution for quite a while.
For now, Qwen 2.5-Max can appear to change the game, but only time will tell if it will truly measure up to its claims.
