Harpie, a Web3 security company supported by Coinbase and OpenSea, has shut down. Hacking company that stopped crypto theft in real time, announced that it could not continue as their business models are unsustainable.
The Harpie Hub thanks the users and the crypto community with a heartfelt message on X (formerly Twitter). They said that they wanted to make crypto space theft free, but it’s impossible to make it a sustainable business. But they hope other companies will carry on their mission.
In terms of transaction issues due to the shutdown being immediate, users are advised to disconnect their wallets from Harpie’s RPC by changing the network in the wallet’s network settings. Soon they’ll also be releasing a tool to rescue users’ assets that are locked.
While Harpie is closing, it will still complete its promised giveaways from its referral program and “Harpie Season 1.” The entire platform is Discord enabled, so users can stay up to date through the same platform.
On the other side, Harpie was known as a well reputed Web3 security company for ensuring real time monitoring of the wallets and preventing the thefts. The company may have stopped running, but its work has had an effect. It might prompt additional companies to find other methods of safeguarding crypto users.
While Harpie’s path has ended, as its mission, that of making the crypto world safer, may yet inspire the next security solution.
